Expect a higher level of security and better uptime from the Right Intel Platform
“The Cloud” is a buzz word these days. Many people hear the word “cloud” and think of files that are stored on remote servers instead of a computer.
When system administrators talk about cloud computing, however, they mean a service that runs applications on remote server hardware and software. The service will manage the hardware and software and ensure your applications are running. Popular cloud computing services include Amazon Web Services, Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure and Heroku. They generally call themselves a Cloud Platform or a Platform as a Service (PaaS).
You don’t upload your application files to a physical server. You send the files to the service and it takes care of deploying it to one or more server virtual machines. Server hardware can run multiple virtual machines. Your application will span multiple physical servers so that physical hardware failures will not cause service disruptions.
Let’s look at some of the advantages Right Intel has enjoyed on Amazon Web Services.
The Right Intel Platform runs across multiple load balancers and multiple servers. If any problems arise, AWS automatically removes problematic servers and replaces them with healthy ones. Our customers experience the best uptime available with little effort.
Any updates to the server software or the Right Intel platform will roll out across servers one by one so that there is no down time to our customers.
AWS will automatically allocate more servers to Right Intel when demand and load is high. When the application load winds back down, servers will be removed automatically.
If a natural disaster causes a regional outage, executing disaster recovery is quick and painless. We have a file that defines and configures all our infrastructure, from networks to servers to databases. Deploying in another region and restoring data from a backup is simple.
AWS provides the ability to define strict network rules that apply before any of our infrastructure receives traffic. This allows AWS to stop many types of hacking attempts before they even reach our server.
In conclusion, our switch to Amazon Web Services has reduced our workload and allowed us to provide better security and uptime to our clients.

We’re happy to announce our latest update to our enterprise communication platform. Our December 2014 release is all about making Right Intel work better for you. With email being our most popular delivery method, much of the release is focused on bringing a cleaner and responsive email design to you. See this and other feature enhancements below.
Right Intel now has a tour to get new users up-to-speed with the platform and features.
The new tour walks you through the basics of using the tool, and the different methods to bring intel into the dashboard, and share it out with audiences. This should help new users get familiar with Right Intel quicker and easier.
Email is more responsive and looks great on any screen—including mobile.
Now when you send emails through Right Intel, your recipients will get an email that is tailored to their screen size. This means that emails look great on phones and other devices, as well as traditional monitors.
Images are easier to view in the new release. Enlarge images without leaving your browser tab, and preview the whole image in the details page.
Previously, enlarged images loaded in a new browser tab. Now when you click to enlarge an image, the image will now display inside the same tab in a modal. If the image is larger than the screen, it will still load in a new tab. You’ll also see a minor update to the details page so wider images will be scaled properly within the details page.
Keep your emails focused, show only what is needed.
Showing post comments in emails is now optional. To hide comments, go to the Admin tab, click on “instance settings”, and find the “Email Briefs” section. The setting to hide comments is the final option in that section. Note that if comments are turned off in the email, they will continue to display in the Right Intel browser bar when the linked is clicked within the email.
If you haven’t noticed already, we’ve released a major overhaul of our public site. Our new site is packed with information, and is much easier to navigate. One change to note is the login link for customers is available from the footer of every page now.

Creating emails through Right Intel just got better. We’ve added the Advanced layout to complement the existing Classic and 3-Column layout options.
The Advanced layout enhancement came directly from our clients’ feedback and it couldn’t be more practical. By selecting the Advanced layout, you can build segmented email briefs and highlight groups of posts under different, bold headings.
When selecting the the Advanced email layout option, you will see four new options to prepare your email—add a post, add a heading, add a content area, and delete all content from this email. Once your intel posts are selected, you can move them in the order you desire. Afterwards, simply drag and drop the element you wish to add to your email layout, even adding elements between your intel posts. The email enhancement also comes with a “Delete all content” feature, easily allowing users to start fresh if necessary.
We find that email is a powerful way to distribute intelligence and personal insight to your audiences. It is still the most popular method used by Right Intel customers and we know you’ll find the latest enhancement useful.
As such an advanced society, we are fortunate to have easy access to so much information, all at the click of a button. But with this overwhelming amount of data available at your fingertips, how can we better weed through the noise and collect the data and insight your clients need to know?
This may seem like a no-brainer, but blindly searching the Internet guarantees an excessive waste of time you might not have. It’s in every researcher’s best interest to outline a few broad search topics. These include, but are by no means limited to: client competition, relative industry trends, industry news, social media and digital innovations, and brand mentions.
Take your time discovering the sites and platforms that work the best for your research needs. The more popular news and information sites post a large variety of great articles, so it can be useful to follow a specific writer or blogger to curate for detailed data. Are you researching your client’s competition? If so, try browsing the competition’s social media platforms or setting up a Right Intel feed to follow their name in the news.
When you know what it is you are looking for, try to weed out dated entries by employing search filters. For instance, instead of typing your keyword in and filing through outdated information, utilize your search engine’s “Search Tools” to filter by recent dates, popularity, and even location.
All Right Intel clients have access to our Curate tab feature. This tool enables users to input a variety of data sources, from RSS feeds to Facebook walls. It helps to tailor their results through a series of customizable keyword features. The Right Intel system will automatically populate on-target results for users to curate and share with their audiences.
Curating interesting content helps you to understand a variety of industries, competition, and your client much better and with expanded detail. Whether scouring the Internet via Google, Bing, and other search methods or employing Right Intel’s Curate tool in your research, use the simple tips listed above to efficiently gather useful information.
Right Intel is always looking for ways to help our clients communicate easily and efficiently to a variety of audiences. Our email feature pulls together both compelling content and user insights to form a branded email brief. Through a few simple steps, every Right Intel user can send an eye-catching email and receive instant feedback and trackable results. Below are a few examples of how Right Intel can help improve communication using our email tool.
Through Right Intel, users can follow their competition’s social media activity, as well as any news or industry mentions. After users curate those components into Right Intel, it takes only minutes to publish and send an email brief that will report these findings to audiences. This replaces ineffective newsletters or conference calls that are so often easily overlooked or altogether forgotten.
Successful reporting on industry news and current trends is another communication challenge for clients. It can be an overwhelming task, but Right Intel users can easily push relevant content from the web to Right Intel, add valuable and relatable insight, and build an email with industry and trend happenings for clients or internal teams. Pushing out user-generated insight with this content turns what would be average industry reporting into applicable data for your clients.
Our clients often report a lack of effective, internal communication at the workplace. Most company newsletters are overlooked or filed away, with every intention of being read later but usually forgotten. Right Intel’s email feature helps users deliver fresh content in an easy-to-read format, which spans mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. Our email briefs help to facilitate conversation with embedded comment boxes, plus all emails generate performance reports for the senders.
Before Right Intel, Becca Tomlin, an account manager from GSD&M, was manually building weekly emails to clients. She would spend hours cutting and pasting text, inserting links and grabbing screenshots on the latest industry news. Now, she simply logs into the dashboard, reviews the available research and selects what she wants to share. Within minutes she adds her own insights and sends the information off to clients in a professional and engaging email, sent straight from the Right Intel platform.
“Now the weekly intelligence reports I send to clients are so much easier to read. When the client gets my Right Intel email, they don’t have to download embedded images, the message loads quickly, and it looks great on mobile.” – Becca Tomlin, Account Manger, GSD&M
Right Intel’s email tool helps our clients communicate important content and insights without the hassle typical email newsletters require. Our easy-to-use email brief feature creates designed, branded, and fully trackable emails that meet all of your reporting needs.
